I am using SW for barcode scanning device. Scale of the application currently is not very large, but it can still be considered success story. Companies, which are using it are: Baltsport, Perpetum sport and VivaSport. All are sporting goods wholesale / retail companies in Latvia. Perpetum sport is official distributor of Puma brand name, Viva Sport is a distributor of Nike brand in Latvia.

In total currently there are 4 scanning devices in use (Handspring Visor Deluxe + Symbol CSM-150 scanner unit). It runs SW application, which creates a database of all barcodes in their system (currently 75 000) and allows to scan and verify barcodes to create invoices and to verify available stock in varehouses. Scanned barcodes are loaded using standard Palm conduit system) in our back office system and used tro create invoices, inventory stock corrections, etc.

Application is vorking stable and is used daily in our warehouses. I am very happy with SW, before using it I was trying to use CSM unit with other open source tools, with very little success, as library Symbol supplies and supports are only for Code Warrior, which is unavailable in Latvia and too expensive for relativelly simple application. In addition Handspring + Symbol combination was created to be a "low cost" alternative to industrial barcode scanners. Bying CW for this purpose would certainly defeat the original purpose.

Software was developed by EOS Systems, which is a small upstart company with only 4 employees. Baltsport is wholesare / retail company with 80 employees, Vivasport is wholesale / retail company with around 20 employees Perpetum sport is wholesale company with 3-4 employees.
